Lancarza is seeking an experienced HVK professional to join a project within an industrial manufacturing environment in Enschede. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining high health, safety, and environmental standards throughout the project.

You will work closely with the project team, contractors, and supervisors to identify risks, ensure compliance with safety requirements, and maintain a strong safety culture on site. This is a site-based role requiring a proactive, hands-on approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently and address safety issues when necessary.

The position is based on 3 days per week, with working days of 10 or 12 hours, depending on the final project planning. The all-in rate is €80 per hour, including any applicable accommodation allowance. The working language on the project is English, so a good command of English, both spoken and written, is essential.

Objectives of this role

  • Ensure a safe working environment throughout the project.
  • Monitor compliance with HSE requirements, legislation, and site procedures.
  • Identify potential safety risks and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented.
  • Advise project teams and contractors on safety-related matters.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture on site.
  • Support the project team in achieving the highest possible HSE standards.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor HSE activities and safety performance on site.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections and safety observations.
  • Identify unsafe situations, activities, and working conditions.
  • Advise project teams, supervisors, and contractors on HSE-related matters.
  • Monitor compliance with site rules, safety procedures, and applicable legislation.
  • Review and monitor risk assessments, method statements, permits, and other relevant HSE documentation.
  • Support toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and other HSE activities.
  • Report and follow up on safety observations, incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure identified risks are appropriately addressed.
  • Work closely with contractors and other stakeholders to resolve safety-related issues.
  • Provide practical HSE advice during daily project activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of safety performance throughout the project.

Skills and qualifications

  • Valid HVK qualification or equivalent.
  • Valid VCA VOL certificate or equivalent HSE certification.
  • Proven experience as an HVK or in a comparable senior HSE role.
  • Relevant experience within industrial environments.
  • Experience working on complex industrial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and regulations.
  • Experience with risk assessments, method statements, permits, and safety procedures.
  • Strong ability to identify risks and translate them into practical control measures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and take responsibility for HSE matters on site.
  • Good command of the English language, both spoken and written.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working in manufacturing, production, construction, maintenance, or other industrial environments.
  • Experience working with contractors and subcontractors.
  • Knowledge of Dutch and European HSE legislation.
  • Experience in projects where multiple disciplines and contractors are working simultaneously.
  • A proactive, practical, and hands-on approach to safety management.
